Walking Bus
What is a Walking School Bus?
A Walking School Bus (WSB) is a volunteer-organized group of students who form a walking group to travel to school together. A WSB walks together along a set route, picking up other students on the way. The concept of a WSB is similar to a traditional school bus, where multiple passengers travel together under adult supervision.
Parents/guardians can join the walk, or drop their student off with the Walking School Bus volunteer, making this a convenient option for all types of families.
Benefits:
-
Safety in adult-supervised, large groups
-
Increased amounts of physical activity for kids (& adult volunteers!)
-
Social benefits for children (& adult volunteers!)
-
Families have a reliable option for getting kids to school on time
